    32 teams will square off in five rounds to see who will be crowned Champions of the 9th edition of the MAAGCS Match Play Championship!

    This is a great event for networking with fellow MAAGCS members along with mixing in friendly competition and great prizes.

    Teams are responsible for arranging the date and site of each match and for reporting the results.

    The winners advance to the next round and losers are eliminated from the competition. Winners will be crowned Champions at the Annual Meeting. You must be an active MAAGCS member to participate.

    You Must Have A Verifiable Handicap!

    You must be able to produce a verifiable handicap upon request from your playing opponents. If you are unable to produce a verifiable handicap, your opponents have the right to require you to play as a “0”.

    Match Play Kick-off

    US Naval Academy

    Once again we will kick-off the Match Play Championship presented by Syngenta with an event at the US Naval Academy Golf Course on Monday, April 29th, hosted by Eric David. This is a special event for match play competitors to get the first round matches completed well before the deadline.

    The course will be closed to the public so there will not be any food service available but Eric has arranged for coolers of sports drinks, waters, sodas and snacks to be available. If you want a particular food or drink, please be sure to bring it with you to the event. Personal coolers are allowed.

    A special thank you goes out to Eric David for hosting this special event. All fees for this event will be paid directly to the golf course upon arrival.

    Match Play Draw

    The draw for the first round of the match play will be on April 11th during the social event at The Reckless Shepherd Brewing Company in Columbia, MD. An email will be sent to competitors showing their first round matchup.

    Please register through this event website. If your opponents are unable to play, you can still show up to enjoy networking and a day of golf.

    Please be sure that both players register for the event to ensure an accurate headcount. You may register separately or one player can register and add their partner as a guest on the registration form.

    Local students from William Winchester Elementary School will visit Westminster National Golf Course on Thursday, May 16 for a First Green Field Trip. This is an excellent opportunity to engage with elementary school students and introduce them to the golf industry, specifically geared towards turf management. Using STEM education guidelines, students will learn some of the daily aspects of taking care of a golf course.

    Volunteers Needed! Host superintendent Ryan Kraushofer is requesting volunteers to help with  this fun day of mentorship and education. Please contact Ryan directly at westminsternationalgc@yahoo.com if you would like to volunteer.

    Assistant Superintendent Nat's Day Baseball Event

    Assistant Superintendents are invited to join Finch Turf for an evening of baseball in a box seats suite! The Washington Nationals take on the Kansas City Royals.  There will be food and beverages provided and great networking with fellow assistant superintendents!

    Who Should Attend?  The event is open to Assistant Superintendent members.  This will be a fun atmosphere and a great opportunity to get to know your fellow colleagues while watching some of the world's best compete on the diamond. There are limited tickets available so keep an eye out for registration to open and be sure to sign up early!
