2020 VGCSA / MAAGCS Assistants Forum
MAAGCS is excited to host another first class event for the assistant superintendent members at Springfield G&CC in northern Virginia. The event is partnered with the Virginia Golf Course Superintendents Association, featuring assistants from Virginia. Superintendents, encourage your assistant(s) to register, and you can attend too!
The forum provides assistants with an opportunity to receive first class education along with a fun and competitive day of golf, allowing them to build relationships. This is an important aspect of the association and the future of golf as a whole. The golf match will be a Ryder Cup format, pitting VGCSA against MAAGCS. Who Should Attend
The VGCSA / MAAGCS Assistants Forum is designed as a career development program for assistant superintendents and crew members involved in golf course operations. Membership is not required. Superintendents are encouraged to accompany their staff, and Partners are also invited. Meeting attire is sportcoat, no tie.

Built in 1960, the 18 hole par 71 measures 6,609 yards from the championship tees was designed to accommodate players of all levels.

Andy Wilson is a Certified Financial Planner, and co-founder of Lighthouse Wealth Management. He has been helping clients secure their financial futures for 25 years. Andy will be speaking to MAAGCS on the topic of retirement planning including investment guidance, review of a typical financial plan and how it is structured, the value of educational savings accounts, and the importance of estate planning. There will be time for questions and answers.
Assistants Roundtable
The Assistants Roundtable is an informative and lively presentation with audience participation. This year's topic is the personal financial experiences of area superintendents. Panelists include Chris Harriman, Dean Graves, CGCS and Andy Wilson.
VGCSA-MAAGCS Ryder Cup Golf & Reception
VGCSA and MAAGCS Assistants will square off in a Ryder Cup style match. Teams of two assistants from each chapter will compete against each other in captain's choice format. One point will be awarded for the team winning each match, and 1/2 point will be awarded to each team if a match ties. The team that accumulates the most points will be the champions.
Sign Up Early!! The number of official matches will depend on the amount of players that sign up for each chapter. If one chapter has additional players, they will still compete but will not count in the official match. It is first-come, first-serve, so sign up early to secure your spot in the official event. Players may name their partner or one will be assigned. Prizes and reception will follow the golf event.
