    About the Club:

    Argyle Country Club was founded in Washington D.C. in late 1921. The Clubs first course was in the Petworth area, also utilized by Columbia Country Club and then Woodmont. The Club then relocated to an area near Colesville and Forest Glen roads, now Silgo Creek Golf Course. Then in 1945 the Club moved to its current location. The course was designed by Perc LeDuc, then a member of the Club. The Club has approximately 500 members, family and individual. Argyle is known for having some of the area’s top golfers. Argyle’s Men’s A-Team won the WMGA A-Team Championship in 2001, 2008, 2014 and 2020 and the Ladies A-Team won the MSGA Team Championship in 2014, 2015 and 2016. Argyle also boosts a wonderful Junior program which includes 2 of the top 125 ranked junior players. Argyle annually hosts USGA Qualifying events as well as local golf association championships.

    Job Description:

    Argyle is seeking a motivated, hands-on, individual to maintain its equipment fleet with a strong emphasis on quality of cut and attention to detail. This position will report directly to the Director of Greens & Grounds. Candidates must have exceptional organizational skills and maintain a clean and orderly workspace. The 3-bay shop with golf lift and table lift has the potential to be a fantastic facility and the Equipment Manager will be able to organize it as they see fit. Our mowing fleet consists of a mix of Toro, John Deere, and Jacobsen equipment that is mostly leased. The Equipment Manager will have a large degree of input in making decisions to replace equipment coming off lease in Spring 2022 and will work with the Director to develop long term equipment purchase and replacement plans. The Club is making a commitment to improving the quality of the equipment by recently purchasing several pieces of capital equipment including new Foley 672 Bedknife Grinder and Foley 633 ACCU-PRO expected to arrive in June. This position would be a perfect opportunity for an assistant mechanic to take the next step in their career.


    • Experience in working on diesel and gasoline equipment
    • Maintain clean and orderly workspace
    • Strong attention to detail
    • Order parts and track expenses to meet budget requirements
    • Keep accurate records of service and purchases
    • Assist in developing long term equipment purchase schedules
    • Ability to move heavy objects up to 50lbs
    • Perform daily checks on reel mowers
    • Adjust and sharpen reel and rotary mowers
    • Check performance of equipment in the field
    • Develop and implement preventative maintenance schedule
    • Perform in-season maintenance as needed
    • Fix down equipment in a timely fashion
    • Must possess tools adequate to work on golf course equipment


    • High School diploma or equivalent
    • Secondary education in a mechanic related field preferred but not required
    • 3 - 5 years minimum experience at a golf course or turf maintenance facility
