    Needwood Golf Course is a 27-hole public golf facility that is operated under the Montgomery County Revenue Authority (MCRA) umbrella consisting of nine golf courses within Montgomery County Maryland. The position provides the candidate an opportunity to join a team environment with excellent growth potential and an excellent benefit package. The candidate will assist MCRA in providing our patrons with a well-conditioned golf course for the enjoyment of the game and, to help enhance our community.

    Equipment/Shop Manager

    Reports to: Golf Course Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent

    Benefits and Classification: Full time, hourly. Paid sick leave, vacation, 401k, health, dental, vision and life insurance, lunch provided, free golf at all 9 facilities

    Salary/Wage: $20-$23 hour based on experience.

    Date Available: September 1


    • Technical or vocational schools with an emphasis in general, small engine mechanics.
    • Previous Golf Course mechanical experience preferred.
    • Two to Four years of experience as a mechanic
    • Experience in electrical and hydraulics systems as well as diesel engines.
    • Golf course equipment reel sharpening and setup.

    General Requirements:

    • Positive attitude, motivated and trustworthy a must.
    • Organized, efficient and detail oriented.
    • Works well with others in a team atmosphere.
    • Ability to adapt quickly to changes and handle pressure situations.
    • Help maintain and enforce safety procedures. 
    • Valid driver’s license.
    • Ability to lift 50 pounds, work in the outdoor weather extremes.

    Specific Job Responsibilities and Expectations:

    • Communicate daily with Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent ensuring all equipment is operating properly.
    • Daily equipment inspections to ensure proper maintenance equipment operation.
    • Perform daily setup of reel mowers for quality of cut of accurate height adjustment.
    • Implement a proactive preventative maintenance program on entire equipment fleet.
    • Stay current with technical industry trends and educational opportunities.
    • Ability to keep updated and accurate equipment records with a computer program.
    • Perform minor and major repairs on maintenance equipment.
    • Maintain maintenance equipment parts inventory.
    • Diagnose repair needs and order necessary parts.
    • Maintain a safe clean working environment.
    • Make repairs in the field.
    • Utilization of Computers, Internet and Social Media to increase effectiveness, efficiency and Productivity of Maintenance Equipment fleet.
    • Assist other departments and facilities when called upon.
