    The Golf Club at Lansdowne is seeking a highly motivated, detailed oriented, flexible and dependable individual with excellent verbal and written communication skills to lead our equipment maintenance program. Lansdowne is a 45 hole facility with both cool and warm season turf species set in a unique environment on the Potomac River. Applicants are required to possess a valid drivers license, high school diploma, 5-7 years as a golf course mechanic, Spanish language skills a plus but not required.

    Job Description

    The Equipment Manager is under the direct supervision of the Director of Agronomy and is responsible for the daily care of all maintenance equipment and any other equipment as designated by the Director of Agronomy.

    • Inspects, diagnoses and repairs mechanical defects/failures in various types of equipment including but not limited to diesel and gasoline engines, two and four cycle small engines and electric malfunctions.  Diagnoses issues regarding hydrostatic drive systems, transmissions, and hydraulic systems. Schedule, supervise and train two assistant mechanics
    • Understand the setup of all types of mowing equipment and includes blade sharpening, reel grinding and bed knife grinding. 
    • Instructs and trains golf course maintenance workers regarding the preventative maintenance, proper cleaning of and safe operation of equipment.
    • Prioritizes equipment repair and maintenance work based on need
    • Operates and maintains light utility vehicles and power equipment.
    • Maintains a preventive maintenance schedule within budget on all equipment, part purchases, and replacement supplies unless prior approval is obtained.
    • Spot checks equipment on course for performance and makes minor corrective adjustments to maximize performance.
    • Oversees the shop maintenance area and is responsible for its up keep.
    • Orders and obtains all replacement parts needed for equipment repair.
    • Keeps Director of Agronomy apprised of all breakdowns and repair progress.
    • Able to lift up to 100 pounds
    • May be asked to act as lead person on special projects.
    • Assists in facility security making sure all buildings, tool box, parts room and all equipment are properly secured at the end of each day.
    • Does all other related work as required.
