    Position Summary:

    As a key member of the property’s golf course maintenance team, the Assistant Superintendent reports directly to the Golf Course Superintendent and assists with the day-to-day oversight of the maintenance and agronomic practices of the golf course and facility grounds, including but not limited to the clubhouse landscaping and maintenance complex.

    Position Responsibilities:

    • Responsible for all phases of golf course maintenance as directed by Superintendent
    • Supervises employees in the maintenance department as needed and instructed by Superintendent
    • Prepares weekly schedules for employees in the maintenance department as directed by superintendent
    • Issues written and oral instructions to maintenance personnel; assigns duties and examines work for exactness, neatness and conformance to policies and procedures
    • Assists the Superintendent in preparing short-term and long-term agronomic strategies to maintenance of the golf course daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly fertilization, irrigation, etc. schedules
    • Calibrates and operates pesticide sprayers
    • Manages proper application and documentation of all chemicals and fertilizers as outlined in agronomic plan and weekly schedule
    • Assist the superintendent in development, presentation, and documentation of safety meetings
    • Perform related duties as assigned

    Experience Requirements:

    • Must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills
    • Must be highly organized, efficient and detail oriented
    • Must possess basic computer skills – Word and Excel
    • Supervisory experience strongly desired
    • Strong business aptitude and passion for the golf business strongly desired
    • A basic knowledge of budgeting and expense management strongly desired
    • GCSAA Member or apprentice preferred, but not required
    • Must have 1 -2 years turfgrass management experience
