Course Information: Hermitage Country Club was established in 1900. The club now boasts exemplary facilities including 36 holes of championship golf, indoor and outdoor tennis, swimming and expansive dining outlets. Hermitage is a family-oriented club with an acute focus on providing the best possible experience day in and day out.
The Sabot Golf Course consists of L93 bent grass greens, Bluemuda fairways, Vamont bermuda rough as well as some cool season rough and native areas. The back nine bunkers have been renovated with Capillary concrete and Spruce Pine sand. The front nine bunkers will be completed this spring. In November 2021, the Sabot front nine greens will be re-surfaced with Pure Eclipse bentgrass and a completely new Rainbird irrigation system will be installed. The back nine greens and irrigation will follow in November 2022.
The Manakin Course underwent a conversion from cool season grasses to Latitude 36 bermudagrass fairways and rough in July 2019. The Manakin greens remained A-1 bent grass.
This position will mainly work on the Sabot Course along with the current Superintendent (Joe Wagner) and assistant (Ben Longest).

Experience Requirements: Candidate should have a basic understanding of agronomics. A successful Assistant Superintendent will have an open mind for learning and be able to listen and follow instructions correctly. We will enhance your management of staff, teach you how to organize and prioritize tasks, as well as grow grass.
Duties: This is a managerial position tailored for someone who has made a commitment to be in Golf Course Management industry. Duties will involve all aspects of Golf Course Management. You may be spraying greens one day and working on the budget the next. You may have to crawl out of an irrigation hole to attend a staff meeting. Candidate will work closely with Superintendent and Director. Radios and unhindered communication are utilized constantly. We work hard to be organized so that tasks can be completed in an 8 hour day and so that the job does not consume your entire life.
Wages & Benefits: $40,000 - $45,000 annual Salary, 401k 6% match, health, dental and vision insurance options, golfing privileges, lunch, uniforms, paid association memberships, education allowance, vacation and personal time.
