On Wednesday April 4th Westminster National Golf Course along with the Mid-Atlantic Chapter of Golf Course Superintendentshosted 100 5th graders from Spring Garden Elementary School (Carroll County) for a hands on STEM related First Green field trip. The students took part in 5 unique learning stations and learned about grass, soils, water conservation, math, wildlife habit, and the 411 of golf.

    About First Green:

First Green is an innovative environmental education outreach program using golf courses as environmental learning labs. Golf courses superintendents need to be highly-trained in STEM to manage their golf courses; we will be sharing this knowledge with teachers and students, showing real world applications that inspire student interest in STEM.
