    This is an exciting opportunity for the right individual to join the staff of our Golf Course and Grounds Maintenance Department as our Horticulturist. Farmington is a large, progressive, and busy private club with multiple facilities that serve the diverse interests of the membership. Farmington maintains extensive gardens and plantings throughout the property, with a specific focus around the Clubhouse grounds area. This hands-on, supervisory position is involved with all aspects of horticulture activities from establishment and care of plants and beds to design and installation of the gardens. This is an excellent opportunity to develop skills and experience to further a career-minded individual.

    Position Responsibilities

    • Oversee the planting, watering, weeding, edging, mulching, pruning, and grooming of ornamental plant materials and areas throughout the Club
    • Develop plant health care programs with a sensitivity to a mixed-used site with heavy activities
    • Evaluate and monitor planting designs and contribute to the development of plans for future plantings that support Club objectives
    • Participate in the development and management of the annual horticulture budget
    • Actively seek educational opportunities to improve and enhance performance

    Candidate Qualifications

    • Degree in horticulture or related field in addition to two years of experience working with ornamentals and grounds maintenance.
    • Possess or ability to obtain a Virginia 3A Pesticide Applicator license
    • Working knowledge of Microsoft office software including Outlook, Word, and Excel
    • Ability to read and understand documents such as safety rules, instruction manuals for equipment, and SDS fact sheets
    • Ability to stand, walk long distances, stoop, kneel, and crouch; and occasionally lift objects weighing 50 pounds.
