SUMMARY: Manages a 27-hole golf course by supervising and coordinating activities of employees engaged in preserving the grounds and turf of the golf course in good playing condition by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Determines the work priorities and assigns employees to specific tasks such as fertilizing, irrigating, seeding, mowing, raking and spraying.
- Functions as an actively working supervisor.
- Maintains a restricted use pesticide license.
- Develops methods for control of noxious weeds and insect pests.
- Mixes and prepares recommended spray and dust solutions.
- Directs and assists employees engaged in maintenance and repair of mechanical equipment including mowers, carts and other equipment owned or leased by the resort.
- Trains employees under his/her supervision and assists workers to perform more critical tasks.
- Monitors and maintains payroll, expense and pesticide records to ensure that the department stays within budget assigned by the Board of Directors.
- Confers with General Manager and Golf Shop Manager in planning and supporting golf tournaments and special events.
- Reports to the General Manager.
Educational Requirements
A Bachelor's Degree in Turf Grass Science is preferred. Possession of a VA Pesticide License or the ability to obtain one within 60 days is required.
Experience Requirements
A minimum of 5-7 years' experience in Golf Course Management or relevant field work. Computer knowledge with Microsoft Office Products is preferred.
Special Requirements
Valid Driver's License is Required
