    Argyle Country Club is seeking a highly motivated Assistant Superintendent to join our team.  This is an excellent opportunity for either a recent graduate or more seasoned Assistant to gain experience with ryegrass fairways and poa/bent pushup greens in the Mid-Atlantic. 

    The Club is making significant investments to the golf course, having recently purchased a new equipment fleet.  A full course irrigation installation is scheduled for winter 2021/2022.  The irrigation system represents the first stage of executing our master plan which includes bunker renovation, tee & green surround improvements, cart path upgrades, and fairway grassing.

    Founded in Washington D.C. in 1921, the Argyle moved to its current location in Silver Spring, MD in 1945.   The course was designed by Perc LeDuc, then a member of the Club.  Argyle is known for having some of the area’s top golfers who consistently compete in state and national amateur championships.   Our Men’s A-Team won the WMGA A-Team Championship in 2001, 2008, 2014 and 2020 and the Ladies A-Team won the MSGA Team Championship in 2014, 2015 and 2016.   Argyle also boasts a wonderful Junior program which includes 2 of the top 125 ranked junior players.  Argyle annually hosts USGA Qualifying events including final qualifying for both the U.S. Senior Amateur and the U.S. Senior Women's Amateur in 2021, as well as numerous local golf association championships.  

    The Assistant Superintendent will work closely with the Director and will be involved in all aspects of the Greens & Grounds operation including daily golf course maintenance, water management, pesticide and fertilizer applications, clubhouse grounds maintenance, budgeting, and project management.  

    Experience Requirements:

    • Highly motivated and positive team attitude 
    • Ability to efficiently handle multiple duties under pressure with minimal supervision
    • Organization and prioritization skills 
    • Skilled in Microsoft Office
    • Strong work ethic and focused on career goals
    • Keen attention to detail
    • Possess Maryland Pesticide & Fertilizer Applicator Licenses or ability to acquire within 90 days
