Golf Course Superintendent opening at The Peninsula Golf and Country Club
The Peninsula Club is the first exclusive golf community in Delaware. Set on more than 800 acres abundant with natural vegetation and wildlife near the popular Mid-Atlantic resorts of Rehoboth and Dewey Beach, The Peninsula features a Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course; Jacks’ first private-project in Delaware. Seven holes of the golf course are set dramatically along the Indian River Bay and Lingo Creek, and set the tone for a memorable experience at The Peninsula.
Ideal candidates will have a genuine passion for golf course management. As the Golf Course Superintendent, you will be responsible for overseeing all maintenance and agronomic practices associated with the golf course and adjacent grounds, including the application of fertilizers and plant protectants on the club grounds. The club grounds and landscapes are otherwise mown and maintained by the Building Maintenance department. Previous supervisory experience is required but qualified assistant superintendents will be strongly considered
Course Info
- 30k + rounds annually – golf course is open year round – Maintenance Mondays are scheduled year round
- Greens (A4 bent – 3acres) Tees (Seaside II bent – 3 acres ) Fairways and Apps (Seaside II bent – 36 acres)
- 10+ acre practice facility – 6 acres of bentgrass
- Agronomy budget is over $1.6 million which includes about $140k in annual equipment leases.
Education and Experience Requirements
- 5+ years of golf course management experience required with progressing responsibility
- Associates degree or certificate in Agronomy /Horticulture
- GCSAA membership in good standing
- Knowledge of local and federal regulatory compliance associated with golf management
- Must have a strong aptitude for golf business and effectively managing the crew and budget
- A qualified candidate will have strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Must be highly organized, motivated and efficient with a strong attention to detail
- Communication and interpersonal skills are critical
- Priority focus on daily setup, moisture management and playability
