Position Summary/Purpose of Position: |
Under the general supervision of the Center Director, establishes the operations and management of a 35-acre facility which is home to turf grass research and education which is located at the northern edge of the University of Maryland College Park campus. Works directly with researchers and their staff to implement projects, assist with research and educational programs related to turf grass. Provide support as outlined by the Center Director. This position requires a knowledge of turf grass production and maintenance and the willingness to be a working manager, performing tasks in the daily operations alongside facility employees as well as provide supervision and training.

Minimum Qualifications: |
Education:
Bachelor of Science (Turfgrass or related field).
Experience:
Minimum of 5 years turfgrass management experience; 3 years of direct supervising.

Preferences: |
Preferences:
- M.S. – Turfgrass Science or related field.
- General knowledge and understanding of Turfgrass Production and Maintenance.
- Knowledge of OSHA and MDA regulations regarding workplace safety and guidelines for pesticide use is required.
- Familiarity with research protocols, turf grass equipment and products is necessary.
- Computer skills and knowledge: (Microsoft Word, Excel, Internet, Email, Concur, Work Day).

Maryland Pesticide Certification/Applicator’s License

Additional Information: |
Minimum hiring range is $65,806.

Harsh work environment—excessive walking, heat, cold, dirt, noise. Must be able to tolerate strenuous physical activity (e.g., ability to lift 50 lbs., shoveling, carrying heavy items) that may have to be completed in adverse weather conditions.
