Assistant Golf Course Superintendent Cedar Point GC
Cedar Point Golf Course is located on the Patuxent River Naval Air Station in St. Mary's County, MD. The course is set at the confluence of the Patuxent River and Chesapeake Bay providing beautiful vistas. Runway 24 runs along several holes where fighter jets taking off with afterburners will shake the heart out of your chest. The 18 hole championship course was designed by Harry Findlay and opened in 1952. A complete renovation was done in 1998 to include USGA putting greens. The intent is to groom a replacement for the current Superintendent who is nearing retirement. Cedar Point values a healthy work/life balance with intent to limit hours to 40-45 per week in season.
Job Description
The Assistant Superintendent will be in position to potentially succeed the current Golf Course Superintendent and will assist in all aspects of course management. This hands-on position involves working closely with the crew to ensure optimal maintenance and operation of the golf course. The ideal candidate possesses strong leadership skills, excellent communication abilities, and a keen attention to detail. Additionally, the role involves managing nutrient and chemical applications to promote healthy turf growth and sustainability. Water management is another important aspect of the job, requiring the candidate to monitor irrigation systems and ensure efficient water usage. Project management is also a key part of the role, involving planning and executing various course improvement projects.

• Must have or work towards a Maryland and a DoD Pesticide applicators licenses
• Must have or work towards a Maryland Professional fertilizer applicators license

Education Requirements - Bachelors, Associates, or Certificate in Turfgrass Management or related field preferred
Salary - $56,160-$74,880 DOE
