    Glade Springs Village is operated by the Glade Springs Village Property Owners Association (GSVPOA). The GSVPOA is managed by an on-site General Manager and a Board of Directors. Specifically, the GSVPOA owns and operates two golf courses within their community: Stonehaven and Woodhaven.


    The 1st Assistant Superintendent reports to and is under the direction of the Golf Course Superintendent. The individual in this position will be held responsible for routine golf course maintenance, pesticide action plans and general grounds observation throughout a golf course.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • Determine routine golf course maintenance operations such as watering, fertilizing, mowing, rolling, bunker and aerification maintenance.
    • Monitor, identify and determine treatment for pest and diseases and apply herbicides, insecticides and fungicides when necessary.
    • Monitor and repair irrigation system around the golf course.
    • Assists in coordinating construction projects with management and outside contractors.
    • Works on special projects as assigned.

    Supervisory Responsibilities          

    The 1st Assistant Superintendent will directly oversee the daily activities of several general laborers.  In addition, he/she will be held responsible for the direction, strategies and coordination of this specific area of course operations.

    Position Qualifications and Functional Skills

    To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Furthermore, he/she should possess the following personal and professional characteristics:

    • Bachelor's or Associate degree from an accredited college or university.
    • Minimum of 3 years related experience in golf course management.
    • A history of continued professional development.
    • Pronounced “people skills” in dealings with staff and members.
    • Able to understand and take direction from his/her superiors and execute the task to the best of his/her ability.
    • Strong aptitude in multitasking and maintaining a detail daily, weekly, and monthly work schedules.
    • Able to meet the physical demands and responsibilities of the position.  He/she will, while regularly performing the essential functions of the job, be standing, sitting and lifting/moving items or objects over 50 pounds and sometimes lift/move items up to 75 pounds.
    • Preference for candidates proficient in equipment operation including tractors, skid steers, mowers, line trimmers, edging equipment and chainsaws.
    • Ability to work in all weather conditions.
    • Possess a valid West Virginia Pesticide Applicator License or the ability to obtain one within 6 months of employment.
    • Strong communication and organizational skills and ability to actively engage as a leader and an innovator.
    • Proactively solves problems, develops and proposes solutions to problems that occur, anticipates the needs of staff and members, and can react quickly.
    • Able to read, analyze and interpret all business pertaining to the position.
    • Attend regular departmental and necessary staff meetings.


    • Salary range:   $40,000- $45,000
    • Relocation Expense:  $5,000
