Belle Haven Country Club, a private club established in 1924, is seeking an eager and ambitious Assistant Superintendent to add to their golf course maintenance staff. Situated in Alexandria, Virginia, a mere 10 miles from Washington D.C, the club is home to an 18-hole golf course that provides breathtaking views of the Potomac River.
The golf course underwent a complete renovation in 2002, led by architect Art Hills, and features a playing surface of creeping bentgrass and greens that adhere to USGA specifications with A-4 creeping bentgrass.

POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Assistant Superintendent at Belle Haven Country Club is responsible for assisting the Director of Golf Course & Club Grounds with the planning, scheduling, execution, and supervision of all golf course maintenance activities. These tasks encompass personnel management, fertilizer and pesticide application with a GPS sprayer, irrigation repair, water management, facility maintenance, and various in-house course improvements.

INITIAL PRIORITIES OF POSITION:
- Help manage and lead the crew
- Assist with daily course setup
- Perform sprayer and spreader calibration and application of fertilizers and pesticides; responsibilities include the safety and direction of chemical handlers and/or helpers as well as the proper tank mixing as specified by the Director.
- Help to coordinate and manage the Short Game Area renovation beginning in March
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- 2 or 4-year degree in turfgrass-related field, preferred
- 2+ years of golf course work experience
- Must be able to obtain VA Pesticide License within 3 months of employment
- Spanish speaking a plus
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
- $75,000 - $85,000, DOE
