Assistant Superintendent – Needwood Golf Course
Montgomery County Revenue Authority (MCRA)
We invite you to join a dynamic and collaborative team dedicated to excellence in golf course management. Established in 1957, MCRA operates self-supporting public facilities, including the Montgomery County Golf system of nine courses, The Crossvines, and the Montgomery County Airpark, while financing public facilities that serve the community.
About Needwood Golf Course
- Needwood Golf Course, a 27-hole Lindsey Ervin design, includes an 18-hole course constructed in the early 1970s and an Executive 9 added in 1985. The course covers 230 acres of rolling parkland and has been operated by MCRA since 2006.
- The 18-hole course features bent/poa pushup greens, ryegrass fairways, and mixed cool-season tees that are being converted to HGT Kentucky Bluegrass.
- The center-row Rain Bird irrigation system is currently undergoing a redesign, with construction of the full replacement system and pump station expected to begin in 2027.
- Needwood hosts the Grass Roots Exhibit, a small educational turfgrass display originally located at the National Arboretum. It’s a great space for educational events such as First Green, and we’ve hosted several turfgrass workshops in cooperation with the University of Maryland Extension.
- Needwood is a Certified Audubon International Cooperative Sanctuary.
- As part of MCRA’s Montgomery County Golf network, Needwood benefits from shared resources, equipment, and a collaborative team of superintendents who regularly support one another across properties.
